Akanji to undergo surgery and miss up to 10 weeks

Borussia Dortmund’s defender, Manuel Akanji, is set to undergo surgery and is expected to miss up to 10 weeks of action. The Swiss international has been struggling with a long-standing injury and medical experts have recommended surgery to fully address the issue.

Akanji’s absence will be a blow to Dortmund, who are currently challenging for the top spot in the Bundesliga. The defender has been a key player for the team and his absence will be felt in the coming weeks.

Manager Marco Rose expressed his disappointment at the news but remains confident in the squad’s ability to cope without Akanji. He praised the defender for his dedication and professionalism and wished him a speedy recovery.

It is yet to be confirmed when the surgery will take place, but it is expected to happen in the coming days. Akanji will then begin his rehabilitation process and work towards making a full recovery.

In the meantime, Dortmund will have to find a replacement for Akanji in their starting lineup. The team will be looking to other defenders to step up and fill the void left by the Swiss international.

Despite the setback, Dortmund will be hoping to continue their strong form in the league and push for the title. They currently sit just behind league leaders Bayern Munich and will be looking to close the gap in the coming weeks.

We wish Akanji all the best with his surgery and recovery and hope to see him back on the pitch soon. His presence will be sorely missed, but we have no doubt that he will come back stronger than ever.
